One gram of fat gives 9 calories approximately. Fats are costly and for the proper health of the body, one should not have more than 15% of the total calories from the fats. Daily intake of about 45 to 60 gms for an adult is all that is necessary. It is preferable to have a considerable portion of this quantity from the vegetable oils.
