How Long Will The Keyhole Surgery Stitches Take To Dissolve As They Are Sore And Red?

hi i have had surgery keyhole surgery laparoscopia etc can you tell me how long my dissolvable stitches take to dissolve they are very red around and the surgery was 2 wks and they are still the same and as i said red and alittle sore

Hi...it depends on the type of suture material used...ranges from 3- 8 weeks...but whatever the case may be the area should not become sore n red...seems like u have developed sume infection there...better show to your doctor...

Thanks for writing in.
It depends upon the suture material used.
If the material is vicryl rapid then 10 days.
If plain vicryl then 60 days. However there should not be much redness . That would be suggestive of some sort of infection. I would suggest application of some betadine cream locally just to be on the safer side.
