How Long The Steroid Take To Attack The Shooting Pain In Leg?

Hi,Iam 53 and recieved shots in my lower spine for back and hip pain that did not work.I have arthites and scolieoses in my back very bad aparently really bad.I started getting shooting pain down my leg and bottom of foot so bad I cant stand more than 10 minutes.My doctor started me onmethyprednisolone4mg today.I also take oxycodine.How long before the steroid takes affect and what exactly does it do?Thankyou.

I would recommend that you see a neurologist (if you haven't already). Your pain description correlates to sciatic pain which commonly comes from some type of pressure on the spinal cord. Likely this is due to your back deformity but a neurologist might be able to offer you an alternative to injections that would resolve your pain.
