How Long Should The Treatment For Prostatitis Be Continued?

My urologist diagnosed me of having prostatitis. he gave me 10-day medication of (Lamox), an antibiotics if not mistaken, the pain goes little but not totally went out then i consulted him and agreed to extend the medication for another 10 days more. But during my second week about 15days the pain remains as same as in day 10 period. Lately, I had this little sore in my mouth and started to take another type of antibiotics which is self-medication - the good thing is the pain in my lower urinary tract symptoms goes away and i feel more better than the other medicine. By the way, 20 days period already finished. Is it possible that i should continue the second antibiotics rather than the first? if it does, how long should I'll be taking it? Thanks.
