How Long Should Regular Diet Be Avoided While On Metronidazole For Inflammation Of Intestines?

Have been on metronidazole for four days.1 tablet three times a day.250 mg. for inflammation in my intestines. does this medication take sometime to work. Soft food diet for 3dYs. Tried a meal of pasta today cramping and bloating flaring up. how long should I be off regular diet?

thank you for your query....
it seems you had metronidazole for intestinal dysfucntion leading to irregular or loose stools....
it is generally a five day course which can be prolonged if resolution of symptoms doesnot occur...however soft diet is advised for the course of antibiotics and gradual adjustment to normal diet should take about 2 more days...avoiding rich spicy oily food should be avoided for another few days...

however it is upto how a patient can cope up with the diet...but general recommendation is during the course of antibiotic...
