How Long Should Ibuprofen For Fever Be Continued In Infants?

My 10 month old son has sore throat and fever 100.8. He is having ibuprofen every six hours as recommended by his doctor. I m not sure if we still need to continue with ibuprofen as his fever is not that high. (Initially, he had 102-103) Please suggest. Thanks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
When 10 months old infant visit in my clinic for fever ( particularly in summer ) I first of all get an examination for infection and advise them to take these measure for fever.
In 10 months infants usually teething develop such low grade ( in few cases high grade but only on the FOREHEAD ) so I advise them for cold sponging or ice .
When there is infection I prescribe levofloxacin 10-15 mg /kg body weight once in a day. I also advise paracetamol syrup 10 mg / kg body weight only twice in a day.
If fever still persist more than 5 days , consult a Paediatrician and get his consultation.
Good luck.
