How Long Does Strep Throat And Upper Respiratory Infection Take To Cure?

I am 65 years old and for three weeks I have had strep throat with an upper respiratory infection. I will suddenly start to sweat that I ll be OK and then I will get chills this hasn t gone away I am on Augmentin and I have to take cough medicine at night with codeine so I can sleep and not cough. Just need to have an idea when I m gonna get some strength back and feel better.thank you Susan Evans

I have been through your question.
According your concern you should know that for the strep throat an upper respiratory infection usually is recommended to take augmentin(amoxicillin+clavulanic acid) for 10-14 days (given by your doctor and if you aren't allergic). It is important that you finish your antibiotic treatment course to kill the infection completely and not stop taking augmentin when symptoms improve, which can trigger a relapse. If strep throat and upper respiratory infection is treated, the symptoms will improve within one week.
