How Long Does Polymyalgia Rheumatica Take To Get Cured?

I was diagnosed with P M R some 4 years ago and responded to treatment with DELTACORTRIL and have been on this since. I have tried getting off this medication but failed.
My G P informed me that I will be on medication for this ailment for the rest of my life. I was surprised to see on the Internet that one should get over P M R in about 2 years. Who is right?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

I have studied your case.

PMR will remain for life time.
I advise blood test like ANA, RA factor, ACCP, ESR, complete blood count, HLA B27, thyroid profile.

Medication like methylcobalamine with neurotropic [like pregabalin] and analgesic will reduce pain; you can take them consulting your treating doctor.

You may consult physiotherapist for further guidance. He may start TENS, or ultrasound which is helpful in your case

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care
