How Long Does It Take For The Bones To Heal After A Fracture?

hi.. I had a broke in tibia and febula in an accident, which was a compound fracture. an external iron nail was fixed for healing skin damages, and its been a month. now doctor says a,nail should be placed inside too. how long does it takes to heal bones ?

Open wound may delay fracture healing.
This can be delayed healing may be due to poor bone stock or due to smoking/drinks
Fracture might be uniting if callus can be seen.

Fracture healing may take more than 3 months.
