How Long Does It Take For A Shin Bone Bruise To Heal ?

I fell against a bathtub 4 weeks ago and received a shin bone bruise . It had a lot of swelling and bruising right away covering most of my lower leg and then my foot also. X ray on week 1 was negative. I still have significant leg swelling and pain, especially after walking. I have a trip planned in 3 weeks that involves a lot of walking. Do you think it will be healed enough by then? Is there anything else I can do? Thank you

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Pretibial Haematoma - the medical name for a shin bruise - can persist for many months in terms of the swelling in your shin. The pain associated with the haematoma often improves more quickly within 4-8 weeks.
