How Long Does It Take For A Bruised Right Buttock To Heal ?

I am female and about to turn 40 in two months. I weight 250lbs and have recently dropped 42lbs. I fell three weeks ago landing on my right buttock. I can not stand up straight nor can I walk. I had mild sciatica down my right leg prior to this, but now it s an 11 in pain on a scale from 1 to 10. The doctor did reflex tests and I passed so he eliminated any spinal concerns saying it s just a deep bruise and prescribed me some stretches, which I ve been doing, painfully, twice a day. I have also been sitting in very hot baths and using a heating pad . I keep thinking it s getting better day to day, but I don t think it is. I m wondering how much longer it should take for a bruise such as this to heal. I can t get any relief from Flexiril, Ibuprofin, or NSAIDS . Will I ever be able to continue on my weight loss challenge? It s been three weeks!

hi welcome to healthcaremagic

It is good, that the doctor have ruled out any spinal injuries... hence nothing major.. Time taken for a bruise to heal is 4 weeks normally.. until then you can continue the exercises already thought.. If the pain felt is very severe then you need to do an x ray of pelvis to rule out any fracture... continue with Nsaids twice a day for a week, then taper the dose and stop...

It's now been 11 weeks - I'm up to 1200 milligrams of Ibuprofen a day; the Nsaids don't give any relief and the Ibuprofin just takes enough edge off to where I'm not grunting out in agony. It has gotten worse and I haven't been able to sleep on my back or my right side in the past week - just my left side and that's difficult. I don't have health insurance as I've been laid off for almost two years. Is this the time I should finally go to the emergency room for some sort of xray? I am miserable and had to buy a wheelchair to get around in and even that's painful. Please help.
