The wound needs to be regularly dressed and antibiotics taken because dog bite injuries have a real chance of causing infection. In the absence of infection the wound should heal within a period of 2-3 weeks maximum depending on the extent of injury. Till then regular dressing is mandated. Pain would be severe in the first 3-4 days and would gradually come down with the use of appropriate pain medications.
