How Long Does A Cancer Patient Have To Live If He Is Unresponsive And Taking A Morphine Drip?

Hello- my Uncle has had cancer for roughly two years and has had chemo for it. resulted in partial removal of bladder and prostate. the beginning of spring 2013 the doctors found a small tumor and he has been getting chemo for it. a few days ago he was rushed to the hospital with pneumonia. he is a very healthy patient the doctors said and that he'd be off chemo soon. at some point in the hospital he fainted but it was unseen by anyone. he was deprived oxygen and now is a vegetable. he is unresponsive for the most part. he opens his eyes when family talk around him but he's out of it. they started a morphine drip close to 48 hours ago. how long does he have to live? will I be able to arrive in time to see him?

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
In comatose or semi-comatose patients difficult to say anything because the vital organs are great matter if vital organ are functioning well then it is uncertain to say anything, if the vital organs are greatly affected then it can be judge by clinical examination that how long patient can pull him self, have nice day.

Hi, Welcome to Health care magic forum.
Your uncle is a cancer patient, and now unresponsive, and is on morphine drip since 48 years.
Don't worry you can reach him before any thing happen, He is is on morphine drip means it is given for so still he has the feel of pain. As you describe, he is opening his eyes so there is no urgency, and it does not appear to be coma.
If luck favours he may recover. Thank you.
