Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Long Can Dizziness Last After Withdrawing Transderm-scop?
I believe i m having withdrawals from using the transderm-scop patch for post surgery/anestesia nausea. I took off the patch after 2 days. vomited, and now in a constant dizzy state. (not nauseous any longer). How long can the dizziness last? I took it off wed afternoon. it s been 3 full days. thanks!
Dear patient, Welcome to HealthCareMagic. Thanks for your concerns as regards the transderm scop patch.
I will directly answer you question by stating that this patch gives rise to dizziness when it is removed. This effect is because your body is adjusting itself, to function well, without the patch.
Scopolamine has a half life of approximately 9.5 hrs. This means that half of the drug is metabolized (destroyed, digested) by the body in that time. Thus you can be reassured that you will be fine within 24 hrs (probably) upon reading this.
If, however your dizziness continues to persist beyond this time, then I would advise you to see a doctor (Internal Medicine) and voice your concerns.
I hope this helps you. Feel free to post any further queries.
