How Is The Pregnancy Period Calculated?

I am a bit curious and would like to understand the counting of pregnancy period why is it that we start by the first day of last periods? Seems to me weird as i conceived like two weeks after my periods. is it wrong to count from the estimated conception date? Thanking you

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

By convention, we count from the date of last menses. This is because many women can actually remember this and not the date they probably got pregnant. You are totally correct on when you probably got pregnant but it is a universally accepted way to report and count it.
