HRZ Pedia Kit (Isoniazid with Pyridoxine, Rifampicin & Pyrazinamide) is one of the best regimen used in the initial phase of treatment of TB. The entire kit should be administered at once on empty stomach to ensure adequate absorption from the intestines preferably in the morning before meals. Generally the kit is well tolerated by most of the children however it may cause HARMLESS orange red discoloration of the urine, saliva or tears, pain abdomen, vomiting, flu like features. She should be carefully monitored for the development of right upper abdominal pain, fever, jaundice, etc. In that case she should be examined by her treating pedia doctor either to stop the medications and to use alternate kits.
