How Is Erythromycin Cream Different From Erythromycin Oral Intakes?

Hi what is ery cream? and its difference from erythromycin oral intakes. My derma gave me ery cream to get rid of the insect bites. But Im still having a lot of mosquito bites and then turn to dark spots. Will erythromycin oral intakes help me not to have over reaction from mosquito bites? Really worried thankyou.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, welcome to HCM. Where ever you are having bites, when you apply the cream, it act directly on that and less dose is needed. It takes less time to heal. when you take orally, it has to pass through GIT, then it should get absorbed into the body and from there to skin, then finally it acts on these spots. So to act on these small spots, orally you have to take more dose, more time needed for its action and side effects will be there. I hope i made you understand the difference between cream and oral intake.
