How Is HIV Infection Transmitted?

I am 31 yr old male , had few unprotected sexual encounters with the females living normal life .In the first week of September I had unprotected sex (vaginal),for very short duration not even ejaculated inside her.I was suffering from flu 2 days before that and it took me more time to recover frm flu (around 10 days) .Suddenly I read article about sexually Transmitted disease especially HIV ,since then I m feeling out .I went to see doctor and he said there are no such symptoms but still recommended to undergo test for syphilis and HIV 1&2 with P24 antigens .The test was conducted on 22nd days of exposure and the reports came to be negative (on hiv test it was written CMIA(methodology).I came across few websites saying the time period for the test must be more than 90 days.I m confused and freaking out.Could u just tell how accurate is the test.what are the chances of transmission of hiv in my case.

HIV is transmitted by unprotected sexual intercourse with HIV infected person.
HIV screening is done by ELISA test and confirmation is done by Western blot test. HIV test reacitivity depends upon development of antibodies against HIV. Sometime it develops early, but sometimes it takes time to develop. Post exposure testing is done initially and at six weeks, three months, and six months. After six months, if it still comes non – reactive then you will be declared HIV negative. Modern HIV test is very accurate. A single screening test is correct more than 99% of the time. But for your satisfaction you can repeat the test after 3 months and after 6 months. Also get tested for hepatitis B and C as these are also transmitted by sexual route.
