How Is HIV And STD Be Transmitted?

Dear Doc,

My problem might sound weird and probably gross but I really need help. I am very much bothered about my problem. Last month, I had a bad stomachache at a visit at an office. I used the bathroom, I have none with me which I could wipe my butt with. I was out of mind at that time and I was not thinking straight. Now comes the gross part. I took a used tissue paper from the trash bin. It was probably dry and free from any stain or coloring yet it was slightly crumpled which made me think that the owner used it to wipe her vagina after urinating. I know it was an insane thing to do but it was the first thing that popped out of my mind. Now, I would like to ask if I would catch HIV AIDS or any other STDs if the tissue paper was used by an infected person? I am really worried. I hope you can help me. Thank you so much in advance!

Hi
HIV can not be transmitted through the use of a dry tissue paper. Generally HIV is transmitted by blood transfusion from an infected person, any form of sexual route which is not present in your case. You can also clear off your mind by undergoing a simple kit test for HIV by contacting a near by integrated counselling and testing Centre.
There is also a very less chance that you might have caught with an STD. If you have any symptoms then you can contact your near by physician.
