How harmful is eating chalk ?

How harmful is eating chalk. I eat 1 chalk stick daily..... What can be the effects in short n long run. I hav been eating it fr 1 year. Nothing like crams or any stomach upset is there. Can i develop some disease coz f this habit.

check with a doc for calcium deficiency.....and stop having chalks...there are chemicals in it which are harmful to ur body...........this leads to stone formation,avoid or stop this habit...check with a doctor....

Welcome to HCM.
Eating chalk is very bad habbit.It will damage your nornal intestinal pattern and creat problem of digestion.
Chalk is madeup of calciun carbonate so it can also harmful to kidney function.Chances of stone formation is very high after eating it.
Try to avoid it by firm determination.

I don't know if you have seen the American TV show, Strange Habits, but they clarified that chalk consumption, although it may not be affecting you now, can have long term implications on the health of your stomach and your entire body.

I think you should see a therapist and a doctor to determine why you started eating chalk and how to kick the habit. Maybe they can prescribe you some type of plecibo chalk. Good luck, and PLEASE take care of your body! :)
