How Effective Is Taking An Antibiotic For A Bladder Infection?

Hi. I am 4 months pregnant and have been taking antibiotics for a bladder infection. Since I started taking them, I get dizzy when I lay down, and when I turn my head to the right. I was wondering if this was a normal side effect of either the pregnancy or the antibiotic.

hi,
Welcome to health care magic, thank you for posting your query to us.
I understand your concern.
To feel dizzy or lightheaded in the early months of pregnancy is quite normal and there is no need for you to be alarmed, the dizziness/ fainting spells are due to blood vessels relaxing (vasodialation) which is because of the effects of hormone progesterone.
A pretty good number of pregnant women face this problem and it could be also due to low blood pressure, low sugar levels, anemia or due to the anxiety itself.

Taking antibiotics has nothing to do with your dizziness, and most of the regular antibiotics prescribed are safe during pregnancy too, so do not be worried much.
When you feel dizzy you can try to lie down on your back , your head facing up.
Its good if you break down your meals and have small meals more frequently so that you prevent the possibility of low sugars.
Also please get a routine blood evaluation done , to rule out anemia.
If you continue to have dizziness and if its bad do consult your gynaecologist/ physician for help.
Hope this answers your query satisfactorily , do write back to us if you have further queries.
Take good care and wish you good health.
