How Effective Is Oxetol In Treatment Of Epilepsy?

My 21 year old sister started suffering from epilepsy about a a year and half ago. The doctor suggested Oxetol but because the seizures continued the doctor asked her to switch over to Levipil. But he advised her to reduce the Oxetol dosage slowly. She currently intakes 1000 gms of Levipil and 750 gms of Oxetol. Is taking 2 medicines together safe?

Hello thanks for choosing HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. Oxetol is Oxcarbazapine and the drug is a broadsperctrum anti epileptic drug. The drug is a safe drug and is free of serious side effects. Levipil is Levatiracetam and the drug is recently approved for use as mono therapy in partial seizures. But it is commonly used as augmentation drug for resistant seizures. But recently it has been found to be useful for generalised seizures also even in mono therapy. It is also a safe drug and both drugs that is Oxetol and Levipil can be used together without any fear. Ask her to take the drugs as per prescription only.

Thanks, Hope this helps you. Take care
