How Does The Total Hysterectomy And Removal Of Ovaries Effect Body?

Hi, I recently had a total hysterectomy plus removal of my ovaries and tubes. I have a rare diagnosis of Autoimmune Progesterone Dermititis. I had exhausted all treatment options of my symptoms. The only "fix" was to remove my ovaries to keep my body from producing progesterone. My question is how long does it take before the hormones my ovaries made is depleted and no longer active in my body?

Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Hormones from body get depleted within 2-3 days after removal of ovaries, but activity will disappear within few weeks.(2-3 weeks). After removal of ovaries, estrogen from body will also get depleted, which can cause symptoms like hot flashes, mood swings, depression. More important, absence of estrogen will weaken bones, so you will need some kind of replacement to avoid that. Kindly consult your doctor for the same.
Hope this helps you.
Regards.
