How Does Taking Pravastatin Sodium Effect People Over 65 Years?

How does taking pravastatin sodium effect people over 65 years, as far as developing serious muscle and kidney problems are concerned.
Also "sodium" - is this the same type of "sodium" that should be avoided by people with high blood pressure?
Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions.

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Pravastatin helps in reducing cholesterol, LDL and triglycerides levels. It also increased good lipid HDL levels. This reduces risk of atherosclerosis and hence cardiovascular disease.
2. In few people, renal impairment and myopathy risk present, followup after a month and six months can be helpful for evaluation. Not all of them develop these complications. Stopping of medications will stop damage.
3. Statins are essential. Along with it fiber rich diet, weight reduction, and moderate exercise will be helpful.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
