General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Hepatitis C Is mainly transmitted by careless IV. injections/blood transfusions. It is blood to blood contact which is an important factor for itr's transmission. So sharing of personal items which can cause blood contact(Razors, tooth brushes,manicuring/pedicuring equipments) or procedures like tattooing can cause transmission.
Herosexual intercourse /anal sex/high risk sex can transmit the disease. It does not spread by casual contacts like hugging/kissing(with healthy oral cavities in both partners),shared eating Or water/ food rout)
So, rest assured mere toch by infected person ( with intact skin)to your mouth (with gingivitis )will not transmit hepatitis c to you. of course you got to avoid kissing an infected person.
Thanks.
