I just had half my large intestine removed due to a twisted colon. I have a mal rotated gut and had had surgery in 2006 to take out the appendix and lay my intestines flat so i would not keep being in pain due to my intestines twisting I was fine till 3 wks ago when my intestines twisted again and I had to have emergency surgery . I am thin and weak and concerned it could happen any advice as to how to get strong again and how to prevent it from happening again ? Thank you

with removal of intestines there can be problems with absorption which could partly be responsible for your loss of weight. at this time it would be helpful to see a nutritionist. it may be possible that you may need intravenous nutrition- but that's got its own problems including having a long term intravenous line and associated risk of infection. so, I would recommend starting out by seeing a nutritionist. as far as preventing the intestines from twisting again, there is really nothing you can do to prevent it from your standpoint.
