How Causes Sinusitis And A Swollen Lymph Node In The Throat?

20 year old female, 115 lbs, upper repertory infection over Thanksgiving, Antibiotic and round of steroids, Dec 16th back to urgent care, Tonsils are purple and still coughing. Bronchitis, 875 Augmentin and Steroid Shot. Dec 26th home with fever and sore throat, still coughing some. Lymph node swollen in throat. Back to family doctor. Says its a virus and that she may have sinus infection. No Scripts. Been in bed for 2 days fever has spiked to 102.8 and one tonsil is white and look to be abscessed. Hard to swallow, can t sleep, throat hurting bad. Should I take her to ER?

Hi,

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern. As per your complain it seems that high fever and white appearing Tonsils can be due to Infection in throat and tonsils leading to Tonsillitis that can be due to viral infection while there can be secondary bacterial infection along with viral..White appearrence can be due to pus..Sinusitis causing post nasal drip can also be a cause..You need to consult an Emergency room or ENT Expert and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigation like blood test and throat swab culture can help in diagnosis and treatment can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.

You might need a course of higher antibiotics along with anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen and oral or injectable steroid. Gargling with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine and warm saline gargle can help. Maintain proper hydration and sufficient rest.
