hello there..thank you for the query.
Vaginal candida infection is due to fungus and it can occur due to change in vaginal pH and high moisture content in that area. Many women suffer from mild infection but it can be moderate to severe.Itching is one of its symptom.
To prevent it one should maintain vaginal hygiene and also keep the vaginal area dry.One can use Vaginal intimate wash for maintaining the pH.Antifungal creams are available over the counter which reduce the itchiness..but if they are not working then it friend must visit her gynecologist as she will prescribe her drugs which will treat this infection. Also you mentioned that she is pregnant so it's better to consult your gynecologist in person..
Thank you..
