How Can Vaginal Infection Be Treated?

I am 67 yrs old in good health. Recently l have developed symtoms like yeast infection. I have bought over the counter remedies like Monistat and nothing seems to work for a long period. I have decided to seek advice from a obgyn nurse practioner next month for help. Do you think a Pap smear will give me the answers l need? Can l get a Pap smear? Some have told me that a doctor will not perform a test due to my age and having a complete hysterectomy in 1995.

Hi I think you should consult a gynecologist for complete examination. Get a pelvic examination done to rule out infection. You may need some antibiotic and antifungal drugs orally as well as vaginal to treat that. Also you can go for a vault pap smear to rule out vault pathology. Hope it helps.
