How Can Tonsillitis And Sinusitis Be Treated?

Hey guys! My name is Alannah and a couple of weeks ago I was suffering from tonsillitis and a sinus infection at the same time and was prescribed antibiotics. After finishing the antibiotics I felt much better apart from the fact that my ears were still blocked. A couple of weeks later, my ears are still blocked and it s affecting my every day life. When I m at school I struggle to hear sometimes, lastnight my boyfriend was trying to have a conversation with me in bed and I couldn t make out hardly anything he was saying, I ve also found that I talk extremely quiet now and people often ask me to repeat what I said. I went to the doctors about this and the doctor told me that time will unblock my ears so I just have to wait for them to unblock on their own but that s becoming difficult as I m having a hard time at school and outside of school because of it. What can I do to help unblock my ears besides waiting for them to do it on their own? I ve waited a few weeks and nothing has happened, is there anything I can do at home or anything I can get from the chemist to help me?? Thankyou in advance!!

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

It looks like there is blockage in your Eustachian tubes due to post nasal drip that is commonly seen during sinusitis..
This can cause blocked feeling and reduced hearing..

You should consult an ENT Physician and get proper ear examination done so that the exact cause can be diagnosed..

You can be advised decongestant nasal sprays that can help to some extent to unclog your ears..
In case if there is still no improvement then surgical drainage of ears can be done followed by placement of ear tubes to ease in future drainage of ears..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
