Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of chronic bronchitis is more.
Chronic bronchitis can cause lung scarring, breathlessness, edema feet etc
Chronic bronchitis can damage right side of heart and it will cause 'Cor Pulmonale'. Cor pulmonale causes fluid retention in the body.
So you should first consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system, PFT (pulmonary function test) and 2d echo (for Cor pulmonale).
You will need diuretics, inhaled bronchodilator and inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) for treatment.
Don't worry, you will be alright with all these. Quit smoking if you are a smoker.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
