How Can Swelling And Pain In The Hand Be Treated?

I hit the back of m hand on a rack at work. There was a very small scratch. That is to say, I did not hit a large surface of my hand. Just a small spot. It has swollen a little and continued to hurt. It has been about 8 hours now and the pain has not gone away. I iced it and it hurts worse. Should I continue to ice it or just take a ibuprofen?
