How Can Swelling And Numbness From Nerve Damage Be Treated?

I was shot in my left leg and the doctors repair my vein located in the left thigh and abdomen area I believe the vascular vein i m not sure. This happen in 2003. I now have nerve damage in the left leg with some numbness but it s the swelling in the left foot and leg thats bothering me. For no reason my foot is swelling pretty bad and I see little purple on top of my foot. My leg have been swelling a well. I went to the hospital and they ran scans for clots but it came back negative. What should I do to make the swelling go down? I m going to my doctor next month but I want to hear your thoughts on this. Could nerve damage cause this swelling and also could I die from this?

Hi,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that you probably got vein damage from you got shot in your left leg. Now your foot is swollen. It is due to damage to the veins of legs there is edema because of disturbance in venous return.Treatment of it is elevation of limb on pillow whenever you rest. Active toe movements reduces swelling. For pain analgesic such as diclofenac can be taken. Avoid keeping leg and foot dependent while sitting.Probably this swelling is due to vein damage. You are unlikely to die from this please don't worry. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it. I do hope that you have found something helpful. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries. Wishing you good health. Take care.
