How Can Stiffness And Swelling Of Hands Be Treated?

The joints in my hands have become stiff and somewhat painful in the past week or so. It became painful to wear my wedding ring because it was so tight. I feel as though I am retaining fluid. Is there something I can do to relieve the swelling. (It is at its worst when I wake up in the morning)

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of inflammatory arthritis (Rheumatoid arthritis) (RA) is more. It can cause pain and swelling in hand joints. You are also having more pain in morning. This is characteristic feature of RA.
So better to consult doctor and get done blood reports like RA factor, ACCP antibody, ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate) and CRP (C reactive protein).
All these tests are needed to confirm RA
You may need anti inflammatory drugs like oral corticosteroid, methotrexate etc.
Don't worry, you will be alright. Consult doctor and discuss all these.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
