How Can Sleep Apnea Caused After Knee Surgery Be Treated?

I had knee surgery on nov 21st. was told at that time I have a sleep apnea and they had some difficulty with anesthesia and in recovery . I know I have some problem sleeping . how should I proceed. I fall asleep sitting up and even when driving but have hard time getting more than 1 or 2 hours a . i easily fall asleep right after a strong morning coffee sitting in a chair and when I do sleep I snore very loud. sometimes wake myself.

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your symptoms and agree that you have a sleep disorder. You need to see a neurologist/sleep medicine specialist.

After that, you would need to undergo a sleep study (polysomnography) to confirm the diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

CPAP machine trial would be given during sleep. After that, you would feel much better and your quality of life would improve.
