How Can Severe Pain In The Lower Back Be Treated?

Twisted my direction. Severe lower back pain radiating both sides of lower back. Pain shooting down front of both legs from lower back to front of legs. X-rays do not show anything significant. 48 hrs later no change in symptoms. Have used ice, ibuprofen. Slept on left side last night awoke to numb right arm.
