How Can Severe Pain In The Knees Be Treated?

I went to doctor for knee pain. He suggested injection to temporarily help with arthritic pain. I had a very negative and most painful reaction. Within 4 hours I was unable to walk and the oa in was so unbearable. What could have gone wrong? I am 64 yrs old, and had a right knee replacement 2 yrs ago. They pain I had was 10 x worse than the replacement surgery. I am in worse pain now after the injections and it has now been 3 days.

Hello and welcome to HCM.
Sorry to know the plight you are going through.
Some people get the worsening of their symptoms also called as 'flare' due to certain drugs injections in joint. You need not worry as this may pass off as the effect of the injected drug washes out.
If I were your treating doctor,I recommend,
-Applying ice compression over your knee joint
-Give adequate rest to the joint.
-Pain killers like Tablet ibuprofen or naproxen twice for 3-5 days.
-Balanced diet including dairy products and green leafy vegetables.
Hope this information helps.
You may return here for any further query.
Wish you recovery.
Thanks.
