How Can Severe Eczema In An Infant Be Treated?

Hi my 5 month old son its suffering with severe eczema and child cradle cap( seborrhea). I tried coconut oil and olive oil on his scalp and he still etching so much that he is already bleeding. Im from Brasil and someone recommended to wash the scalp with cutisanol wich is an gel with bismuth subgallate+ zinc oxide. How can I find something with similar formula in US or do you have anything else that could help, beside hydrocortizone?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and thank you for your question.

I think that baby products containing zinc oxide will work for your child. It is not indispensable to contain bismuth subgallate as long as it contains a good concentration of zinc oxide. Make sure that the product is for babies, and that your baby is not allergic to the product ingredients.
I think that this will work. We have applied such creams to many babies with eczema in our practice, eczema that won't go away with a wide range of other products but they responded fabulously to zinc oxide.
Good luck!
