How Can Recurrent Seizures Be Treated?

My Mother is having seizures, she is 86. they say they find no reason except her age for this happening. They started her on 500 mg bid , and she continued totijelyy have seizures, so they increased the dose to 2 tabs, 1000 mgs bid. She c/o of feeling strange and whoozie after taking the large dose, and asked me if she could take 500 mg qid , rather than 1000 mg bid. I have never worked with seizure patients and I do not know much about this kind of medication. Her doctor is 80 miles away, and she has to go thru a PA in her rural town and so getting any immediate or timely response is difficult. I was just writing to ask what your opinion on this would be. Would qid be as effective and maybe prevent the funny , whoozie feeling from the initial larger dose.
