How Can Rabies Be Treated?

My husband was given post vaccination after 3 days of bite, he was confined for 3 days and was given anti rabbies and tetanus as his first dose and IV antibiotics. The antibiotics given was for his cellulitis due to the infection of the wound bite. It s been 25 days now and the cat does not show rabies symptoms meaning our pet cat is healthy, however our cat has a unhealed wound with pus in his leg for 2 months already, the wound probably from a cat fight and leaking on it everyday. My husband is not given a second, third and fourth dose of his anti rabbies vaccine. Is there a big chance that he can have a rabbies inside his body given that he wasn t able to get the full anti rabbies dose and please take note his IV antibiotics for 3 days are specifically meant only for his cellulitis?. If the possibility is high how long can the rabbies show its full strength?. He was bitten by the same pet cat for a four times already started March of this year and both my husband and the cat are healthy, only this fifth bite on June 7 started our problem. The cat is healthy until now, my husband is healed of his cellulitis. Thank you very much for this and hoping you can contribute much of help to my family.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for your question on HCM & I do understand your concern

“As” per your clinical history is concerned to take medication as per your doctors advice and finish course first and as the cat is still alive so he is not infected with rabies virus so nothing to be worried at all and to treatment to cat also as he is a pet animal and his doctor will advise him medication for his wound.

Hope that helps
