How Can Pain And Swelling In The Ankle Be Treated?

Hello my fiancé playes softball and he pitches. He got hit by a ball straight into the his fibula and had a lot of pain and swelling into his ankle. He never went to the doc and pain and swelling eventually decreased over a couple of months. He does from what I think is a calcium build up on his fibula where he got hit. What should I do to make it go away. I ve tried ice. Ice and heat. And massaging it. He is still having lose of sensation to the lower part of his shin down to his ankle. Any suggestions. ?
