How Can Mouth Ulcer Be Treated?

I am having infection or mouth ulcer type on the left side of the cheek at the end of the teeth. Most likely at the level where two jaws meet. I have applied Vari Micanazole gel, tablets such as Metazol 400, and also a local made gel along with mouth wash. Besides this I have also practised some home remedy like using ghee(clarified butter), honey, and raw haldi (turmeric ) paste, but the problem still exists. Please advise how I can get rid of this problem since it had started from mid February 2017.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If the ulcer is at the very back of teeth and also is at the line of occlusion then it can be most probably due to continuous cheek biting causing traumatic ulcer.

But, as it is present since 3 months therefore, you should get it clinically examined and if needed a biopsy can be done.

If there are any sharp cusps of teeth then trimming and smoothening them can help in reducing cheek biting.
If there is pain apply numbing gel containing lignocaine.
Take a soft diet and avoid chewing hard and sharp foods.
Take vitamin B complex and lysine supplements.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

They can be caused by a number of factors like food triggers, constipation, hereditary factors, hormonal changes, excess acidity, accidental cheek bites, stress, and deficiencies of vitamin B complex, vitamin C, iron, or other nutrients.
Some advices that I can give you are:
• Honey can soothe ulcers as it helps retain moisture and accelerates the healing process.
• Baking soda, also called sodium bicarbonate, helps treat mouth ulcers.
• Sea salt and hydrogen peroxide have anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and disinfectant properties.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
