Hello, I read your message and understood your problem. Molluscum contagiosum is a viral infection and it is chronic. The lesions may persist for a few months and sometimes for years. But most of the time the infection is resolved within six or nine months. In your son s case, it has persisted for one year now. The infection is usually self-limited and the lesions are not painful. You can eliminate individual lesion by freezing or scrapping. However, if I was your caring doctor I d advise to consult with a dermatologist to choose best treatment option for him. Also, usually the drugs used to treat the warts are effective in mollesca lesions as well so you can use these instead of steroid creams. We need to determine if it is mollesca for sure or if it is any other opportunistic infection. It can be aspergillosis or something spread by mosquitos. Hope this is helpful. Dr.Albana
