How Can Melanosis Coli Be Treated?

Hi, my husband of with Diverticulosis and now they have discovered Melanosis coli, the doctor said that they need to cut 30cm off on the left side right by the anus. He is in severe pain, cannot go to the toilet, cannot eat, he cannot sleep, What is causing all this pain.

I can understand your concern.
Melanosis coli is dark pigmentation of colon.
Most commonly it is seen with chronic laxative use and smokers.
It is usually benign condition and don't need any treatment.
But when it is associated with diverticullosis and patient is in severe pain, not able to eat, colectomy is the treatment of choice.
So get done colectomy of involved colon.
