How Can Left Atrium Dilation Be Treated?

I have just received notice that my left atrium is mildly dialated. What can I do to treat this....? I take a low dose for HB. I have been very sedentary for the last few years with knee and back problems. This year I have had two knee replacements and my back is better but I have put on 20 lbs.

Hi
Thanks for posting your query on HCM
I have read and understood your concern
Left atrial dilatation is always a consequence of hypertension. There may not be any specific treatment for this condition but for optimal blood pressure control. It may be associated with other heart conditions like arrhythmias.Reasons for which i will advise you see a Cardiologist for a cardiovascular evaluation, treatment and follow-up.I will also advise weight control and try to be more active given the consequences of a sedentary life style.
Hope this will help. You may write back if more concerns
Wish you good health
