General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear,my name is dr,Dorina Gurabardhi.I understand your concern.
Irregular periods can be caused by:
-Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) that can be diagnosed by an ultrasound
-hypothyroidism ,that can be diagnosed by doing the thyroid hormone tests
-Changing birth control . If you have irregular periods after 3 months of hormonal birth control, you should take another type of birth control
-Lifestyle changes. Some women have changes in their period because they exercise too much,or have too much stress
-Extreme changes in your weight can affect your periods
- Hormone therapy.
Treatment depend on the cause.
Hope my answer was helpful,if you have any other question I will be glad to answer, thanks!
