Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 6yr old developed impetigo on her ear about a month ago and we have been treating with mupirocin since diagnosis. The issue I m having is that she picks at the scabs and no matter what I ve tried or how much I stress the importance of keeping her fingers off, she still picks. I noticed today that she s getting the little yellow blisters down in her ear canal. Can I treat that with the ointment? Does she need oral antibiotics? Is there anything else I can to speed up the healing process? How can I keep her from picking and scratching her ear?
Hi, I have gone through your query.I suggest that you give your daughter an oral antibiotic. She can be given Cefadroxil susp. 250mg twice a dayx5days.Continue applying Mupirocin oint.
