How Can I Stop Using Steroid Betnesol As It Causes Growth Delay?

Hello and due Respect Doctor!
I have a Daughter of 3yrs exact 10kg. She has been going through rough and serious cough variant asthma as told to me by almost all doctors.

She used to have exaggerated nasal irritation and then continuous cough for the rest of the days leading upto 10 days to 14. I cannot weight to see that had to give Betnesol 5mg for 5 days 1mg per day each episode. But the thing is that is can start at any time of the month. May be 3 times a month or 4.

This had made me to give her the steroid over and over again because no medication that doctors give seems to work. But lately i met a doctor who gave motalukast 4mg OD and i found that it distanced the edipsode of cold and severe nasal irritation.

For me please advise how can i stop using the above mentioned oral steroid Betnesol. Because i fond it useful in controlling the sudden episode that comes heavy..... and i hear that i can cause growth delay and osteoporosis....at the same time she has grown a lot of body hair and not increasing her weight for the last 1 year +.

Thank you

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to us.
As per the symptoms your child may be suffering from asthama.
Asthama has no permanent cure, it can only be prevented using timely medications, if treated properly and timely the steroid can be avoided.
There are many non steroidal medications in inhalation form which comes as inhalers or rotahalers.
Consult your regular pediatrician for the same. Meanwhile continue monteleukast, thanks regards.
