How can i get a healthy heart? Done cholesterol, LDL, HDL tests

My cholesterol level is 239, HDL is 81, LDL is 160. I weigh 129 lbs, am 5 9 , don t eat red meat, transfat, but do eat lots of grains, fruits, veggies, exercise regularly (at least 3 times per week). What s my heart health picture? Will cutting out even the occasional cake (which I eat perhaps 3 to 4 times per year) help? Thank you.

Cardiologist 's  Response
hi and welcome. well i dont know your age . i also have no info whether this result is after you have been treated for high cholesterols . you have any additional risks for heart problems, eg smoking , hypertension, alcohol etc.....and indeed strong family history of raised cholesterol levels. if you have nothing of above but have family history then its also an independent risk .
first of all diet is good, thats must exercise that will help in reducing weight and also cholesterols . if this fails then using high fibers diet along with medicine( eg statins ) can be prescribed by your doctors. there is nothing to worry now, yes but accessing your health status is mandatory . must see a cardiologist of you have symptoms eg shortness of breath on exertion and /or chest pain or heaviness. regards
