General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Birth control pill can increase estrogen in body. Higher levels of estrogen cause more binding of thyroid hormones to proteins in your blood and cause false increase in total T4 and total T3 hormone. But it does not affect free T3, free T4 , TSH. So I would suggest to go for free T3, free T4 and TSH hormone to rule out hyperthyroidism.

In hyperthyroidism: TSH will be low and free T4 and free T3 will be high. Avoid stress, take healthy diet, drink plenty of water, do regular exercise.

Hope this may help you. Contact further if follow up needed.

Best regards,
Dr. Sagar
